Starting An Online Presence

This article brought to you by the webmaster of make money online and online marketing.

During this dark and dreary time of recession when jobs are low and purchases are high the internet is an excellent place to work online. The worst thing about starting fresh online is the fact that there is usually a time of 6-12 months which is the time that a new online presence must endure until it starts seeing any true online success. Remember that you must play the catch up game with those in your niche which have been around for years. The good thing is when websites or webmasters begin doing well they will usually start cutting the time which they use to market. This is your golden opportunity and if you build fast enough it is easy to not only catch them, but gain the edge and the traffic which will help you of course make money. When online there really is only two commodities or currencies between webmasters and they are backlinks (authority, Page Rank, ect..) and traffic. This is where the money lies for those who do not have the resources or coding knowledge to set up an online marketplace. Now do not think that this will in anyway hinder the amount of money that you can make online since millions upon millions have been made through affiliate marketing.

Once you have your website, blog, forum, or whatever other web presence you decided to make up and running the biggest mistake you can make is thinking once you build it they will come. Remember the web is a huge link system and even websites such as Google and Yahoo cannot find your website or blog unless it has a link somewhere out there pointing towards your domain. So after you have your presence up and running begin building backlinks. A backlink is a hyperlink on a third party website which points towards your website. When you begin building backlinks towards your website or blog there is a couple of things to keep in mind. The perfect backlink consists of a hyperlink on a website that has trust (Page Rank), Authority, and a low external link count. It is also good if the website is closely related to your niche (category of website or web presence such as business or marketing). The bigger your link structure is within your niche that you are a part of the higher chance you have of making the first page on all the major search engines and becoming the leading contender or top dawg within your niche.

The worst thing any new webmaster can do is give up before they even give themselves a chance to learn what it takes to make it online. Once you have decided on what type of web presence to build and begin marketing let a few months pass before you decide whether or not to give up on your presence and try and make it doing something else. Personally I recommend putting in 4 months and after this time you should have a good idea on the time frame it will take to reach the top pages for your most competitive keywords.
